And then we gave him a camel.

Fiji's nephew is getting christened this weekend and Fiji, as the godfather, has to stand up there and dunk the little dude. Anyway, my job (that I gave myself) is to find a fun, unique, interesting gift to give him. And my question is this:

Would it be weird or totally and completely awesome if we gave him a camel?

Personally, I think it would be out-of-control awesome. Mainly because, uh, hello, we can GIVE him a CAMEL. Well, he wouldn't technically have it like in his crib or anything, but we'd be giving it, in his name, to some farmer in Africa.

It's either that or some trees. Trees are clearly cool and all, but slightly bore-bore. Thoughts?

p.s. The featured product are sheep. SHEEP! Also, a can of worms! AWESOME to the MAX.

Do it!

I gave my parents two hens or something like that for christmas last year. I know their eggs could feed a village and they could use them sell the eggs to create an economy as well.

I'm totally in favor of giving gifts by example really *doing* something with them vs material things - so now I'm probably the most dreaded gift to open because it's no fun but too bad for them! ha, ha.

Maybe you could even make like a little photo album/storybook of pictures of camels so he has a keepsake and he learns about service at an early age?!

Anyway, I'm all for it, I think this year the parents will get a goat. :)

I read on the site that the recipient doesn't always get an actual camel, sometimes just the money is donated, or given elsewhere. That seems disappointing. But I like the camel storybook idea that to go along with the gift.
